I’m continuing to have trouble securing the door lock button surround.

I’ve managed to fit the button into the holder, but the overall surround is still loose and comes off in my hand.

is there another clip on the outside surround which has broken off ?

or should I apply some adhesive?

Is there any broken edging for the shroud not to grip. Or is it the lever arm slightly twisted and causing this to pull away. You could use some light rubber glue see if that holds.

Are you parking near heat source maybe a burning Evoque.

Right; just took it apart and it looks like a bit of plastic has snapped off.

The whole unit appears flush, but then moves when I open the lock.

I’ll order a new part and see if this remedies it. Thanks for the response.

There’s also the plastic bit screwed to the door that your bit clips into. They often break when removing the door card

Right hand bit

Often the issue isnt down to the lock surround at all, but the door card being loose or not fixed properly. Even when you think its fixed, 3 months later broken again.

Each time you shut, or more likely, lightly slam the door, youll damage the brittle lock plastic, the either comes loose or breaks. Especially around the corner with the lock.

The standard method of holding the door cards is crap. So I put rivnuts in each corner and used M6 countersunk bolts and countersunk washers. Clean repair but matches the Defenders rugged nature.

Now replace the entire plastic lock mech as listed above.
