Anyone any recommendations for ratchet straps or similar for securing gear stowed on a Patriot rack?

i always ratchet strap stuff down and then have another strap secured to the load and the 110 so if the ratchets fail for any reason at least the load wont fly off and hit some other car!
Bit overkill i suppose, but thats what i do..

A great thing for helping secure lots of smaller items is a skip net. You can get small ones in different colours - but all black looks very smart. I have one for my trailer and another for my roof rack. Really works well to hold awkward roof loads on.

With my s11a i used to have i fitted some lash down eyes between the landy's factory fitted ones as they are stronger and ratchet strapped stuff on the roof to the lash down eyes never had a problem with them, sadly i sold them with the landy and want to fit some to my 90 now but they are like hens teeth to find now and are really pricey a guy at billing wanted a fiver each for them and i wanted 10 some for my 90 and some for my trailer but decided against these now and thinking of using landy towing eyes instead as they are plentyfull and cheap :D

+1 for what HYBRIDNI said.
I made my own nets, top and bottom, out of the cord they make lobster pots out of. It's unbelievably strong and hard wearing.

Yep - very true. The 2 nets I use are mega mega strong. And when sized and fitted correctly they wil hold anything down firm.

I lost my ratchet straps when in Eire for a weekends fishing. Had the kayaks and other gear on roof. Used the roof net to secure them...

Never moved an inch for the 160ish mile trip home.

For big bulky single items etc I still use ratchets straps.

I've got one of those full roof cheapish ones made of galvanised square tube. It has huge square / rectangular gaps in the floor of it. I needed one net to tie in to the base to stop stuff falling through! Another one holds stuff down. Works a treat

I got a pack of 4 drapper ratchet straps for £15. Use them for tying the quads down and held no problem.

I've no idea what your carrying but I have a big dry bag, it was only a cheap one, but I stuff what I can in that, then ratchet it down, keeps things dry as well.

I have always be told that should never use rope, either the knot will loosen or get so tight it's hard to undo the other end.
