I don't really want to ask following my previous posting... however the sadist in me says do it, so here goes.

Will the seats and door cards from an L322 / sport / other newer model range rover fit into a P38?

The seats i have in my P38 are old, cracked and in need of replacing, so what's my best option here?

A little something for the purists.... :violent:

No!!
Doors are completely different size/shape as are the rear seats
Front seats could be modified to fit but would be a lot of work and no point..

And before you ask.. no the dash wont fit eather!

As was mentioned in thee other post....99% of the L322 goodies will not fit straight into the P38...you will need to modify, cut, add, move, replace, plan and be willing to radically change the P38 for things to fit...As I said before, a lot of planning, thought and frustration will be the way forward!

Ive got some door cards and 3 panel leather seats in very good condition in ash grey (black) available soon. Rear seat is complete but I,m removing the front covers to fit the newer 5 panel covers to them, so you would need to strip yours down to fit them, they are fitted with uprated 45 degree thermostats to make the heated seat hotter. Pm me if you want them. Check my post in the p38orn thread and you'll see them in my car.

Good alternative option.

I have no idea what fits what, hence asking those who know... all i know is that the seats i have have seen better days and i would like to improve on them if at all possible.

New seats or recovers makes no odds really, as anything would be an improvement on what is currently in place.

Lets make this easy - it is fair to assume that nothing from the L322 will fit the P38 without modification....as 99% of the stuff will not fit...

The L322 is based on the BMW X5 and was a total revolution from the Classic and P38.

The Classic and P38 share similar principles - ladder chassis, Floating body on out riggers, space frame structure, body panels fitted to it, Solid beam axles, etc etc....

The L322 uses a monocoque type body with two subframes, independant suspension, a totaly revised drive train, BMW Electronics (then Ford when they took over and supplied Jag engines) the two animals are so vastly different the list is endless....

Almost nothing on the L322 will bolt straight onto the P38A without modification or alteration!

So could i get a BMW X5 shell and put it on my P38?

That would look class man.

So how come RR went pants for a couple of decades then?

L322 is more of a BMW than a RR... and the original Sport is more of a LR than a RR... well, according to top gear anyway.

The gist of it would appear to be that classic and P38 aside, RR's weren't actually actual RR's until earlier this year when they launched the new sport, with the aluminium chasis.

I really need the theme music from SOAP about now

True, but on here some regard anyone mentioning underpigeoning a P38 as being akin to a sheep rapist or worse. So be careful of the rep you build. :D:D

The quality of the leather in the L322 is crap, a better idea would be P38 seats in an L322:rolleyes:

Gavin your starting a never ending argument here, a p38 is a totally different class compared to the L322.
Nothing from the L322 will fit the P38, except a few interior bulbs.....
Look on the bay of E for some replacement seats.

Well someone on here has got some P38 seat skins... apparently the heating kit works well, which would be nice during the winter months... toasty bum cheeks and all that.

Don't get me wrong, the P38's are good... but if the seats are worn out or worse for wear, it's kind of limited for options to rectify the situation, and being leather, they are a bit of a centre piece inside the car so i would like to do something.
