For lots of different reasons I have had to remove the seat box from my 1973
S3.
The workshop manual says to replace using a suitable sealant.

What is considered a suitable sealant ?

I don't realy want a flooded Cab every time I hit a deep puddle

Robert

Yeah a silicone based sealant is best as it will be easily removed if yer need to take the seat box out again. Apart from that it's cheap.

Use a butyl mastic i.e. Sicaflex, tougher and more adhesive than silicone. A decent car bodywork or paint shop will sell it or an equivalent.

i dont think using silicone sealer on a seat box that is bolted in will really make that much difference. it will seal it to stop water ingress and thats all the lad needs
