Whats the current law on seat belts?

My 1985 90 has (you guessed it) 3 in the front, none in the back.

Are my kids legal sitting the back?

Cheers all!

I think it is illegal to carry anyone in the rear that is not restrained, like a sherpa van with bench seats.

are you referring to this line?

If your vehicle has no seat belts
You can't carry any children under three years old in vehicles without seatbelts, like classic cars. If you're travelling with children over three years old, they must only sit in the back seats.

Do you actually have seats in the back? If so did you retro fit them?

Just seen your original post - if you don't have seats in the back the kids can't travel there - that's like sticking your kids in the boot of your car... you can't do it. It is just a load space.

Retro-fit belts (and seats if needed). Better safe and secure, it's not you it's the other twit who can't see a 3 ton Landy.

I have a Range Rover, no rear belt's, so I can't carry a child under 3 in the rear? Or does that apply only to side facing seat's?:confused:

kids take priority and must be in front seats with belts and adults in back(apart from driver)

as said get mini bus seats from a scrap yard worked for my kids before i got them bucket seats in back now and 3 point harnesses.

right here i go i have a 109 safari seat belts only in front as i got 5 kids ive turned it in to a 9 seater not 12
so 2 belts in front .Ive got the right seat belt bracket for middle seats but dont know where it goes (i think they are for the clip bit not belt ) ive been told as ive put rear seat that face each other and been told i can only put lap belts on these seats
now heres what get me they all going to be fitted by a mot tester i know
but some insurances say this is a modification all seat belts are bs standed
and all brackets are landrover own make
so due to mine being old im going to go for safty for my kids and balls to the tw-ts at my old insurace company historic here i come

the law only states that forward facing seats require seat belts, however children under a certain height and age must be in a child seat of sorts, which needs to be restrained by a seat belt. and i cant find anything anywhere that sates that the child seat has to face forward, but law of no law, when i build seat sinto mine(once built) it will have two forward facing seats with belts .
