Those of you who are more experienced than I in all things automotive....Please don't laugh at what I am about to ask....
I am replacing a few bits and pieces on the engine (only simple things like water temp sender, adaptor, etc - my question is when I screw the new bits in, do I need to seal the threads with anything to get a good seal, and if so what would you recommend?
I come from a construction background and when we join metal to metal threads we use things like PTFE tape or pipe jointing compound, so I am assuming that I need to do similar on my engine.... am I looking for something like Hylomar Universal Blue (which I have seen advertised)? I don't think I really want a thread locking compound....or do I???
Thanks, and please go easy on me
