Hi,

The Disco has recently started showing the error - P024F - EGR A shut.
I feel no change in performance of the vehicle.

The error goes away when I switch the disco off for about 30 minutes and would pop up at random.

Any advise? Will it damage the engine?

Ia that code retrieved with some generic OBD2 reader? if yes you need to read it with a proper tool which shows you the subcode too

It would not damage the engine but it doesnt run well with EGR issues it can even go to limp mode or stall at a point

Thank you.

Diagnostic done. EGR A is in shut position. Needs a new EGR.

Waiting for a quote on the work. Thinking or replacing both EGR's.
Any suggestions?

hi

plus 1 what’s already been mentioned , may i ask please would u be able to do them yourself , they are awkward to do but if u just take ur time it’s not to bad of a job , plus there’s plenty of us to always help with advice etc

Also assume 100% they’ve ruled out the wiring / connectors to the egrs , think pierburg
EGR’s are around £300 each so if a garage does it I would expect the bill to be at least 1k if not more

can have a search round for u with if u wish with regards to prices as know u don’t have to buy the complete assembly that includes the water cooler section as for genuine they would be around £650 each , but can buy non genuine ones

what year is ur disco plse

meant to ask, where abouts in the uk are u please as maybe one of us will know a garage or mechanic if u went down that route

hope that also helps

Hi,

I have my car booked in for getting the EGR replaced. I have noticed that the car has stopped throwing out black smoke and the performance is as it should be.

Is there a possibility that the EGR has managed to clean itself up and is now operation as required?
No errors on the diagnostics.
