It sounds like the LCD may be out on your screen. Try taking a flash light and look at it from an angle to see if you see anything. I suggest you look up LCD monitors and inverter on the internet if you don't know what you are looking for. Basically the Nav screen is the same as a laptop screen or computer monitor screen. If you can see the information on the screen even though the screen is not lit, it means your backlight is out.

Maybe someone can chime in on whether a bad trunk Nav unit will cause the front monitor not to display - I don't know.

You can replace the LCD if that is your problem. I am about to do mine as my LCD has bleeding in portions of the screen - the LCDs do go bad with age.

The links the other members posted are not on topic and not useful, save for their amusement. In their defense, I find it rather amusing - although in your case you are not getting to a solution.

Perhaps if you got off your high horse you would be able to read post #2 . Oh and for future reference I do not now, nor will I ever, require you to speak in my defence.

Forgot to add: the links posted are on topic and actually very useful.

Gold Rover - a bit prickly today. My horse is without Nav so I have been hoofing it, by foot. Today nor in the future it is not my intention to speak in your defense. I enjoy the banter and the spirit of this forum, but if I feel I can aid in answering a question I will. Keep on doing what you are doing as I find it amusing - that is not a defense but encouragement.

Not prickly at all , just telling you exactly as it is. Dont take pot shots at people if you dont like a two way range. You had no reason to get all uppity about the posts by myself or others. To use your own measure, it wasn't relevant. You could have posted what you wanted to say in reply to the OP, without any reference to the other posts but you wanted to have a dig.
If you weren't so busy trying to score points, you would have been able to comprehend that both threads were by the same person, posted within hours of each other, making this a redundant thread.
The links lead back to 1: his original post (on topic) and 2 : someone making the same mistake as yourself and not realising that this is a redundant thread, but they made a valid point about more information(useful).

I am now bored, so off to read something else, just before I leave one last thing. You really are an arrogant ass. Keep living up to the stereotype of your nation.

Gold Rover I will bite. I did look at OP's signature to figure out what vehicle he was talking about. As a result I did see that he was the author of the other posts.

I proceeded to answer his question regardless as the response may answer his question as he narrowed down his issue.

Again, I enjoy the spirit of this forum or I wouldn't come here. You have made me laugh many times - keep it up. I will leave the rest alone.

I am going to wrap this up on my end unless someone has a question on replacing the LCD screen on an 03-05 LR322. I just finished swapping out mine, not too difficult a job. A number of videos on the web on how to remove the dash and unit. Follow these videos - if you are LHD or RHD - they are basically the same. The Nav unit only has two plugs - a blue and a white - flip the security latch and they will come out (no antenna or other harnress). With unit and bracket in hand, I could not find information or a video for separating the the Nav unit from the bracket and Rave provided no guidance. I took off the two colored trim pieces, one torx per side. From there take off the bezel trim piece to gain access to the next set of screws holding the bracket to the GPS unit. Next remove 4 Philips head screws (on side) and I think 6 torx (2 on top corners and 4 on bottom middle). This will allow the actual unit to separate from the mounting bracket. Once these are removed the head unit will slide out from the bracket. From there just follow the videos for a BMW X5 screen swap. Before reinstalling the dash I suggest one test the unit out. I sourced the LCD from Ebay, paid about $100 USD. My original screen was a Sharp LQ065T9BR51U the unit I received was Sharp LQ065T9BR55U. It appears to be interchangeable.

With the dash off, it is only two screws to remove the speedometer cluster, if one has burnt out bulbs.

As to the rest. Yes OP does not have a signature I should have said member screen name - I used his screen name and looked at his 3 posts and read them to figure out what OP was asking about. As I was in the process of performing the screen swap I hoped to gain some info. No posts addressed a failing LCD. Looking back at it now, OP has not been back and the only reason I am still providing information is maybe someone in the future may search the issue looking for an answer. As I was in the process of doing mine the information was fresh in my mind. Hope it helps someone out.
