Hello everyone,
I have a series 2a petrol and everything runs smoothly (touch wood!). However recently there has been a screeching noise from the engine bay as it’s revved. The higher the revs the louder the sound. The oil and belts are fine and nothing rubbing as far as I can tell. I don’t spose anyone has any ideas?

water pump , alternator, idler belt tensioner or all of them, normally I would try and find the noise by spraying abit of WD 40 on them 1 at a time when the noises topes you have found the problem, it could easily just be the belt, so give that a spray too

Did you spray any WD40 on it if it stops its the belt, I would loosen the fan belt and see if you have any play in the water pump, up down side to side in and out

That’s what I tried first but it didn’t do anything. I’d say the belt is too loose if anything and needs replacing. It’s my dads old one that’s been sitting in a field for years

I’ve tried the belt but it’s wasn’t that. I’ll give the rest a go.
