Yes always stock up with cheese, Toulouse sausage, wine to name a few things all the usual stuff steak hache being a must, more interested in diesel prices just had a friend return said super markets 1.65€ and 2.10€ on motorway should get to just south of saint malo on a tank
Toulouse sausage, despite our place being 1 1/2 hours from Toulouse, I have never liked but "steak haché" or mince as Brits call it, it is fascinating that you too think it is worth bringing back.

We also like the farm fresh chickens with their heads still on them.
 
Really will drive thrifty he may have said 1.75€ I like all the usual French stuff we normally do a food shop on first day traveling down Rouen, caen with couple of days near tessy bocage then traveling down to rascoff for a week
 
I just wish you could come to the shop with me. Even as a butcher's son I think you would be impressed. (You haven't said where in France you tried to shop for meat.)
all the way down the west side to the Spanish border when we drove overland to Morocco and we fished in a few central areas below paris
i worked for a few weeks at a customers villa in the lower central area
 
Yes do a bit of fishing on the way not going to the med this year, but taking my beach rods, barbecued sardines with a little salt, crusty bread and a bottle (or two) of rose
 
I used to bring back Cheese from UK by plane and had a cool bag rucksack but was always check out as cheese has the same sort of image as explosives when going through the scanner
That's not good. So all a terrorist has to do is wrap his cemtax in an opened cheddar wrapper to get it through customs? EEEK!
