Basically i have the opportunity to buy one at a good price. how do i tell if is is a 300tid or earlier?

even tho this is a rear drum axle is that a thick drive member? (just using photo as a thickness reference)

yes thats a thick drive member so pre 300 tdi

do pre 300dti have there own swivel housings etc? hard to find the parts?
only part might be hard to find is inner half shafts they are about 2 inches shorter than front axels with rover difs ihave only ever seen a right side one on ebay at about £250 I think I bought mine 16 years ago fully reconditioned by military for £500 the track rod is diferant than a rover font axel asit has a bend in it to to miss biger dif housing prop shaft will be needed to be shortened or another one fitted for first year after fitting mine I was straped for cash so I got original prop shaft and cut about 2 inches off both sections later on I fitted new prop
