Hi folks,

Just replaced a few gaskets around the engine bay. Would like to give it a wash to remove the old oils leaks. Now I know the Craic with washing engines, have done plenty before but this is my first land rover so am I safe in giving it a wash or just leave it alone.

To be fair I have degreased my engine when it's been covered in crud and oil but I have never washed the engine or indeed the vehicle properly. If you really want to clean the engine spray some degreaser all over it, that'll do

I've power washed mine before when looking for a leak. Should have got some decent degreaser as washing alone doesn't shift much!

i would protect electrical connections even if its a diesel

washed our 320d and it ran like **** until the engine warmed up and dried out the electrics..............

Done mine a couple of times with no issues, just steer the jetwash away from the fuse box.

I wash my 2000 Def TD5, I always make sure the engines hot to steam off but I am careful not to cause thermal shock, and a delicate trigger finger and aim always helps, leave it to steam off for a bit then flash her up, no dramas.
