that looks good , nice one mate

are u going to cut the end at an angle of leave it straight , have u got to just weld some mounting bars on it

Well I managed to get an hour to knock up my DIY SS, now the parts are here.
I had trouble getting the new box to seal to the old pipe, so I used plenty of sealer and clamped it as tight as I could. I even had to expand the original pipe as it wasn't round. I've ordered a different band clamp, as I'm not happy with the joint.
I've got some fettling to do on the OS hanger and will trim the tail pipe some more too.
Sound is different, more bassy at idle. It's actually very a pleasant sound. Is the revs climb above 1500Rpm the sound changes from bassy to buzzy. It is not really loud compared to the old leaking back box. It doesn't drum on the boot floor, like the old pealing rear box.
There's a definite improvement in low Rpm torque and it comes onto boost earlier. It actually makes it very nice to drive, suiting the auto box well.
I'm pleased with the the results, but I'll be happier once I've got it clamped up to my liking.

nice one mate , that old silencer looks as good as my old one that came off , seems the outer bit always peals off

have u found around 2000 revs when the turbo is spooling it picks up better

Mine is well on boost by 2000 Rpm, it always was.
It's on full boost from 1500 now, whereas it needed to be at 1800 Rpm before fitting the new box.
It makes the engine match the auto transmission very well.
I'm going to fit my new but removed £25 Ebay MAF tonight as I know my MAF is down on output.
But I'm pleased with the exhaust box. I like the low bass sound it now emits. It's not very diesel sounding, but I like it. Best of all, the constant drumming under the boot floor has gone.

mine hits optimum at 2,000 revs , if I stick my foot down at those revs it will really go like a steam train , under that it's very gradual , wonder if that's due to the way the synergy is programmed , lol is on Eco setting

ref ur maf how's the box with the maf on and off , have u noticed much difference , found on my Bosch maf with the maf compensator on it would really pour black smoke out, so turned it off and smoke cleared

know what u mean about the exhaust and the noise , I've got se88 silencer and very pleased with it

did find giving the hippo a good thrashing once in a while helped the autobox and the engine ticked over nicely , seeing I sometimes do a lot of short trips and gives it a good clear out

My MAF is down on signal so I run the Synergy with MAF compensation on. I also have it on setting 3 which is a good compromise between power and economy.
I'm going to fit the new MAF and turn the Synergy off, just to see if there's a difference.

thks, got a Bosch on mine , don't know if the pierburgh one is any better or worse

mines on number 2 , maf off

will be good to know when you've changed them to see what improvements u will get , regarding the comparison between using a good maf and the synergys compensator

Ok Ebay cheapy MAF fitted. Synergy on 3 MAF compensation is now off. Performance isn't any different below 3K Rpm. However now it takes off over 3K, right to the limiter. Before the new MAF was fitted, the engine was reluctant to climb over 3K. So it's working ok. I'll need to use a bit of fuel to see how economy is effected.
I'm still loving my new bassy exhaust note. :)

will be good to see what mpg u get , is urs a Bosch or pierburgh

I'm terrible since having the new since fitted , lowing the window through tunnels , lol

not as good as my old triumph vitesse , that sounded lovely, had a full janspeed exhaust on that , cost a bloody fortune

my brother in law had a v8 90 , that sounded awesome

Nice back box...............did anybody try replacing the back box with a piece of straight through pipe ??
it would just need to be bent to the right shape to exit at the same place and i guess 1 hanger would be enough
would it be legal ??

I believe Diesel Do has a simple pipe instead of the box.
I would say that it would be too loud for my liking though.
My box is just about right for sound levels. It is definitely noticeable at motorway speeds, but not to loud. There is just a nice deep tone to it. The TD4 isn't a bad sounding engine really.
I've recorded some video, but need to work out a way to post it.

Like this. Hopefully it works.
Oh ignore the smoke. It's not white or blue. The smoke is actually black, but not with the sun illuminating it.
Oh and you have to listen on a decent sound system to do the exhaust note justice;)

Here's a test drive.
