I’m guessing this is for a van type defender? Is there a seat option for the rears to make it all similar which is what would put me off.

This is for my 90 soft top...so no rears to worry about. If for a van/110 I'm pretty certain most other modern rear seats can be made to fit but it would take a little thinking through.

that’s me phooked :D

I got my drivers in and wired. For some reason I only bought one mud rail back when I wanted more leg room so need to order another!
I have techno rear trim and had horrible grey beat up window surrounds in rear. I black carpetted all rear trim. As for the rear jump seats I’m going to get black exmoor seat covers. Rear seat covers in black wouldn’t look out of place of a 110 with these seats mate.

@v8250 Can you post some pics of your wiring if possible. I’ve read your post about your wiring, but a lot of it goes right over my head. I have about 8 cables at the white connector. The yellow one with red and black next to it is for the air bag I think. The connector with the 8 has two thicker cables and the others are thinner off various colours. I’m good at working off pictures though :p

Yes, as soon as done I'll post with description

I wonder how long it will be until we see loads of threads on here asking about fitting proper seats back to all the ones with the horrid RX-8 ones in :D

Ha! I tell you what, I’m still pre tensing a bumcheek around a corner then realize I don’t need to. If I don’t get on with the rx8 seats I’ll remortgage and get some recaros haha!

Nothing horrid about comfy, bum hugging heated seats.
Not really sure on the need for bum hugging in a Land Rover.... ;)

As for comfy. Standard seats in good order are very comfy. And more importantly fit the space they are designed for. The RX-8 ones don't really. And just cut down your available space and make it harder to get in and out of. Not too mention reduced access to battery.

I'm not really knocking them. But it does seem a bit of a fad of the past 2-3 years. And I can well see once some of the vehicles have been moved on a few times. The new owners will want to revert back to the proper seats. Of which, there really is very little wrong with.

That’s pretty much all opinion though isn’t it. I don’t fully fit a defender seat - the head rest becomes no existent as it’s below my head. You also roll about in them both on and off road. That alone has made worth the upgrade for me. I’d have considered a re-trim if this wasn’t the case. I wouldn’t say the the standard seats are very comfy either. M sport seats, Volvo seats and high end Audi seats are. I did consider going down the route of m sport seats but knew these were a hassle free fit. I have leather Volvo seats going in my d1 too

@meego , better than the ham-fisted VW owner's plate full of spaghetti...no-one uses chock blocks
I did have a wee chuckle at that. Someone needs to introduce the guy to modern cutting discs as well I think, but I enjoyed watching it though. He knows a lot more about car electrics than I do, that’s for sure.

I only used it to work out what wires do what and still managed to get it wrong.
