Hi all,

Just finished washing my beloved 02 plate TD4 and to my horror i have noticed that there is a few small blemishes around the fuel filler cap. It looks like it is the early stages of rust.

What i want to know is, have any of you had experience of trying to make a claim under the anti perforation warranty?

I have checked my service book and it says it is valid for six years.

Does anyone know of any arguements that Land Rover try to make so i can be ready when i call in on Tuesday? I have checked the leading edges of the panel to see if it has been resprayed at any time juist incase they try that one but it definately has not.

Thanks in anticipation

Im not sure about what argument the dealer will have, but heres some sound knowledge on paint and rust. Its probably going to be hard to claim, as generally, anti corrosion applies to manufacturing defects. The defects are defined by paint that has appeared to bubble away from the metal work, due to manufacturing faults. If the paint has split or broken in any way, they deem it being down to the elements, road salt or wear and tear. Your dealer may well take pity if you go about it the right way. Tell them it bubbled first, then they may turn a blind eye and sort it. Whats probably happened is that fuel hoses going in and out, have disrupted the paint and water has then got in behind it. Voila, you have rust. If the metal was galvanised, you could argue that the galvanising was poor, hence the rust. Find out if the area was galvanised. Good luck.

Lets hope your dealer isnt reading this.

I have just looked at it again and there is definately no cracks in the paint or chips which the dealer could say that it has caused the problem.

One good thing is i work for a large dealer here in the north east so i will go to our body shop first and see what his advice is as to how it has happened then i will go to LR.

Last night i was so unhappy i was up for selling the car and getting a newer one but i have calmed down now !!:)

the land rover dealer will ask for your serice book to see if your service and anti corrosion warranty checks have been kept upto date, i cant see any reason why they will turn you away the body shop will repair then bill landrover.

Gladyly the service book is all upto date and everything has been ticked and stamped. It has Full LR service history so hopefully they will sort.

Going to R******GH on thursday will keep you informed
