Hello, a couple of weeks ago I bought an 06 td4 van, clean, serviced, very nice indeed, recently it has not done many miles, i picked it up and drove around 1000 miles in a week or so, no problems at all, then it started playing up.

basically is not very responsive, runs ok until you try to accelerate, around 2000 rpm it looses power, the engine management light comes on, but only under acceleration, take your foot off the pedal, the light goes off,
i have noticed it only does this constantly once the engine is warm,
my suspicions are that as the engine heats up, something expands and causes a running problem,
So I am thinking of changing all hoses, they dont seem to be split, but are a little soft, and if you scrape your finger nail across the surface, you get a nail full of rubber.
The van has done 118k, I have read the maf sensor should be replaced every 50k,

So should i change this any way?

I have read lots of people have thrown money at problems like this before finding a solution, and some still have not found the problem, I am in france and dont fancy driving the van back to uk like this, it will take an age, no french garages locally that specialise in freelanders, so want to have a crack at this myself, of course with your help!!

thank you for taking the time to read and reply.

Check your low pressure fuel pump, high pressure sensor and wiring, turbo actuator solenoid and associated vacuum pipes.

Ideally you'll need a diagnostic session to view the output of those items and read fault codes so you can see what's happening

just got back from the garage, 4704 code, so am about to change the fuel pump,
thank ou for your time, I will reply with the next step
