It drove better, very slight brake rub but no power loss and it was drivable, warning lights did come on.

cheers , sounds like ur steering wheel angle sensor on the column has come loose or broken

There’s a post I saw a while back regarding this , will see if I can find it for u

It also makes sense if the degrees keep changing where you had the tyres in the same direction

U may have several faults , but need to get that steering wheel angle sensor sorted out first and at least making progress

in the mean time, can u re read the codes plse , there should be a letter in front of the fault code , thks

Found this , shows ur steering wheel angle sensor, the inside collar comes loose which cause an error

still looking for u

If u look at urs the yellow plastic gear needs to be secure against the metal steering column on ur angle sensor

get someone to turn the wheel while ur looking see if that yellow collar moves plse

will see how u get on first so can take it in stages

Also to make life easier , the yellow sleeve should be fixed to the column

do I need to remove any panels on the dash to see this or is it up under the dash board ie foot well

pull the lower steering column cover off, if hinged at the bottom , Phillips screwdriver and remove the panel that has the courtesy light installed , two screws at the front , but remove the kick panel first as it holds that under panel it

be very careful as they can break

with the lower steering column panel removed u might just be able to see it

hope that helps

Better picture of that yellow collar, should be fixed to the steering column , so as u turn the wheel watch that it moves with the column

Gently see if it’s loose by trying to see if it’s come unstuck from the column

taken the covers off and cannot see the tags (yellow) but by hand i can move easily the the tags, they do not spin but i can turn them easily.
assume this means a new sensor, or can it be repaired.

shouldn’t spin with ur hand , u can try and glue that sleeve or replace it

the bottom steering column uj has to be undone so u can slip the new steering angle sensor on

personally because it’s such a vital part I would fit a new one

here’s a link for u and can find the part number if u wish for a new one

https://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/userpics/32286/steering_angle_sensor_removal.pdf

also plse note ref the new column nut req

at least this will be one issue out the way , hopefully u haven’t got any more faults but this has proved 100% by that angle sensor spinning like that and keep altering that it’s faulty

is it worth looking for alternatives ie ebay as 250 is a bit stiff.

indeed, ive put an ebay link there for u as I also nearly fell over ref the price

plus ur autel will be able to recalibrate another one

hopefully this is helping and not driving u nuts

going slightly mad. lol.
just out of interest, i must be not understanding this, i could move the up turned tags (dog tooth) ....the pictures of the new sensor do not show the dog teeth, i assume that the plastic housing has a ring in it that rotates so the housing is fixed to the column therefore the dog teeth should be fixed to the steering shaft so is it a dog tooth bit i need which is clamped to the shaft, just need to understand it before i purchase one.
I do appreciate your help on this, certainly owe you a beer.

i have looked on other web sites and I have discovered that it is the plastic ring that is spinning, it should be tight on the steering shaft, some have dismantled and the shaft tapped down to push the plastic ring back onto the lugs (small possibly too small) and or the use of glue and bits of steel to hold it in place, so it may not be 250 quid it might be 5 for a tube of glue. will keep you posted possily tomorrow

hiya

always a pleasure to help where I can and u must be a mind reader ref that sensor, as I’ve spent a good while researching it further because I also notice the yellow part seems to be missing , therefore I’m wondering if that yellow sleeve comes part of the column

however after some digging I’ve found this thread , haven’t finished reading it yet but think it will be a considerably cheaper option as I didn’t realise ref that yellow collar

https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/steering-angle-sensor-failure-76181.html

spent a few hours and still trying to find out 100% what parts has that collar

will of course update u when I find out some more info

have u got the same crystal ball as I’m using, lol as indeed just posted around the same time ref the glue

don’t know if it’s the same thread u also found

does look an ideal solution along with being considerably cheaper

Also sounds daft and nice to know it’s appreciated , ur be amazed some that arnt when they’ve received help

yes plse, keep us updated and will in the mean time try and find out some more info
