When going round tight bends and corners Im getting a rumble from the back of my 88". Prop shaft has no play, neither do wheel bearings and wheel nuts are tight. There is slight play in the swivel on drivers side where preload needs adjusting now the new bearing has bed in.

I assumed it was the diff so changed the oil last week. It looked slightly emulsified (not much) and had no bits in it. Since doing that, the noise is still there but is quieter.

So the question is, is my diff now in need of rebuild or is something else causing the rumble?

Could be, i havent made a blood sacriice since putting the gearbox back in

I would inspect the wheel bearings for excessive wear or damage. Worth checking basics too - torque up the wheel nuts.

Did check the wheel nuts for tightness. I think i shall replace the wheel bearing first, as someone pointed out lack of play doesnt mean its not worn so will try it and see

You should be able to feel roughness in the wheel bearings - did you check the diff pinion bearing?

put yer missus in the back and the dog in the front

if the rumble changes to a moaning sound its an easy fix

dont take either out in the tratter again :D:D:D

And theres a blast from the past! Good to see your still popping by Jonny
