Hi all,

As you may or may not know I'm rebuilding my swivels at the moment. I ordered two new UJ's for the half shafts RTC3690 but I've received UJ's with rubber seals and a grease point. Is this correct? as I was expecting no seals or grease points. They are the correct size.
Can I still use them or do I need to pull the seals off? I'd rather get the correct part so I don't have to pull the swivels apart again.

They're GKN ones that have arrived. I did think about pulling the seals off but that lets the needle rollers float right out to the edge of the spider. Are the Genuine ones like that?

i think id try for some others but maybe those will be all thats available now ,fit cap back minus rubber ,seal shouldnt hold needles once fitted on spider

Yeah. Hmmm I might just fit them. It's odd looking around online. Some sites show seals fitted. Others show the UJ's without the seal but clearly a lip where one would be fitted. I guess thats why they're 'univeral' UJs. I just couldn't stomach £30 for OE when branded were less than a fiver.

....thats what I thought when I got them out of the packet. But they fit. I actually fitted them with the seals in place. I though that a UJ lasts a long time pre-greased. Also it has the grease fitting drilled into the spider so the oil should get to the needle rollers. If I pulled the seals off it seems the needle rollers could come out towards the spider far enough to have only half the cup running on the rollers.
