Hi I own a 2007 Range rover sport, 2.7tdv6 l320. recently has developed a tapped sound under load, sound like slack tappet rattling. Anyone any idea what it could be, and how to fix it. engine still strong no loss in power, and returns 32mpg, noise is bugging me thanks

Hey there,
Hmmm, Maybe a couple of opinions from a couple of garages could prove helpful on addition to any info from the bus drivers on here?:D;)

Sounds like a cracked manifold ,If its only when under load....Also check all rubber belts for bits missing ,that can sound like a slack timing chain....

Why would they do that with the timing chains??
Same head mounted the other way around??

Hi John
Welcome .
I don’t know your level of expertise but if you chasing a possible leak in the manifold. Put compressed air up it’s back passage(sealed with an old bike inner tube) and spray all along the exhaust with soapy water from a garden sprayer. If there are leaks there will be bubbles . But don’t get over giddy

Or get someone to hold a rag over the end of the exhaust with the engine running.o
