Hi everyone I’m new to the forum
I’ve got a Range Rover sport 2.7 diesel on a 09 plate and I’m trying to get the fbh to work on a switch
Any ideas

Hi can anyone help me
I’ve tried to calibrate my air suspension and it’s gone bad it now gives me suspension fault red light and drops on to bump stops
It told me that it can’t calibrate and now this

I changed the o/s/r hight sensor a few weeks ago and was told it would need calibration wish id left it alone
 
Regarding the FBH I got hold of a control module that allows me to turn it on and off using the 3rd button on the remote

May I ask was the height sensor genuine , have u rechecked the wiring and fuses

what diagnostics are u using as some might not be capable , any fault codes plse

feel ur pain as understand what it’s like to chase a suspension issue

If it's anything like the one on l322 you can only force it to come on under 5c
I did this on my wife's Freelander 1 some years back. From memory, you can supply +12V to the Grey/Green wire on Pin 3 (make sure you check that!) and that will turn it on, it's effectively telling the FBH that the temp is 5ºC or below. As I say, I did it years ago and just bought a remote control relay to do that with a couple of outputs, the second output turned on the supply to the fan motor which as long as you remember to set it to speed 2 and point it at the windscreen worked a treat on the cold mornings.

That reminds me, the glow pin in my FBH has failed and I was ABSOLUTELY going to do that job on the L322 when the weather warmed up... Yep, missed that this year! Bugger.

We had this on the Disco 4, put an OEM height sensor in and It didn't need calibration but the issue was actually the wiring to it rather that the sensor. If you look at your diagnostic values and you see a high resistance, it's more likely to be that than a sensor and it will give you this fault (ask me how I know!). Anyway, check your wiring plugs, it could be a simple fix there, if the insulation is cracked and the wire is blackened you'll need to cut it out and replace.

plus 1 as also mentioned that with regards to the wiring , fuses etc , have also seen many cheap copies not working or throwing an error code

other things I’ve seen is suspension height measurements not taken , sometimes leading to the suspension getting confused and going to a hard lockout in showing the red sensor light

On the maxi ap200 the volts are all around 4.91 and 4.93 so hopefully it’s the sensor and I can hook the caravan up on Thursday and go 😊

The voltage is what the ECU uses to determine the height on these (logic voltages are usually sub 5v). As you are seeing a subtle difference I expect the sensor is working. Disconnect the arm and move the sensor, you should see the voltage change, if it does, it's working. As it's the same sensor on each side, it uses opposite voltages on left and right sides, is that clear? Maybe not. Basically, if the car raises, the height sensor on one side will increase voltage and decrease on the other side as they are mirrored.

Anyway, the point of that dribble was to highlight that you need to see the resistance values rather than voltage as poor connections create high resistance and that's where the issue arises or at least it did for ours. Don't know about your diag tool but some will display that.
