My Range Rover was originally a V8 auto, and the guy I bought it off had swapped in a 200TDi and manual gearbox (I assume it came from a Discovery.)

I've owned the vehicle for 3 years, and the speedo has never worked. It hasn't bothered me because I use satnav for speedo, but now my insurance company want me to sign a mileage declaration form. I told them that the speedo / odo don't work, and so the mileage reads the same as it did last year... so now they want an extra few hundred quid to put me on an unlimited mileage policy! So basically I need to fix it to get my insurance back down to a reasonable price.

I've done some investigations and it would seem that the vehicle has an electronic speedo, but the gearbox is for a cable driven one.

Has anyone got any experience with this? Would I be able to swap in a cable driven speedo out of a discovery? Is there an easier way?

All help greatly appreciated!

Cheers, Andy

What about changing speedo unit for cable drive one, my 89 classic was cable drive speedo and I put 200tdi engine and box from a disco in it no problem with speedo. Think Disco dash is totally different.
