So does his rrc need the bulbs or do we think its been retro fitted?

Talking purely about the fact that he will take for an MOT and NO SRS Lamp is illuminating then EVERY MOT station should be Passing with an advisory that bulb is not illuminating

If they FAIL because it does not illuminate then he is well within his rights to ask for a VT17 appeal form

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploa...ta/file/449313/complain-about-an-mot-vt17.pdf

I personally prefered the previous "SRS Lamp follows correct procedure" but as I have said I dont write the rules I only have to adhere to them

Some say "pedantic" I say Do It Correctly or Not at all !

The cost charged for an MOT bears no comparison to the penalties imposed on MOT testers and the MOT station concerned when an MOT is carried out incorrectly

Thanks for the comments.

Here is he tracking sheet I got from SV, as the car was a SV, it was reg'd in 1993, but the spec I am told is 95 as it has 300 tdi.

Any help on the bulbs would be great.

Where it says eec vin sallha - the bit after this will tell you what it is.
Post that.
Forget it, it is also at the top.

It is a 300tdi manual 94-95 rrc.
Same as mine, I removed my bulbs and now run without.
Are you sure you are looking in the right place for the bulbs, they are tiny bulbs in black holdrrs that slip onto pins.
There is no holder left when removed just pins.
This is from memory and that runs like a p38.

Have you tried having SRS system read ?

My guess is a previous owner has removed the bulbs to mask a fault with the SRS system

On my L reg Soft Dash once I found someone who had the RR computer it was simply a loose connector on the steering column that was causing the problem and never again did the SRS bulb "indicate a fault" !

Just reread your first post, you have found the place for the bulbs, they have just been removed.
Bulbs just push onto the pins.
They have been removed for a reason, they stay on all the time.
You can fit new or leave as is.
New bulbs will probably mean you will need to fix the fault.

Gmacz, totally agree and after battling eas and abs systems I think the srs shouldnt be much worse.

I have found some 14v 1.4w T3 that look like they should fit on the pins but need to get the measurements and in the workshop manual the exploded view shows a rectangular holder that clips to the PCB behind the tacho display plate presumably to stop slight bleeding around the cluster when the srs lights up. Can't find part numbers for either so will wing it.

Thanks everyone for your help, although I do a have a further question on the cars heritage, as you pointedly out it's a 1993 reg but has a 95 model build with an engine that didn't go into production models until 94, so question is why or how, do we think this was a prototype car? The reg is L@9 SVC and the marketing image for the 95 model has a dark blue vogue with reg L59 SVC. Dealer stamp was SVO and first 2 services where at Lode Lane.

Any thoughts?

One last thing to everyone who replies I have to say a huge thank you, I have been able to get so much done thanks to this forum and your collective knowledge!

Cliff

You have a standard car from 94-95 called a 95 car.
The reg plate has no meaning, it could be anything.
My car is registered august 94 and is a later car than yours from the vin number but fairly close.
