[FONT=&quot]My range rover vogue suddenly shut down a few weeks ago, was all right the night before. Door wouldnt open with remote key, opened manually, key wouldn’t turn in the ignition, and steering got locked. I called AA and they said it’s the battery which they jumped start and started working. I was away last week and had a call from my partner that it had the same problem again, and AA came and jumped started it again but said there’s a computer that probably need to be dumped and reloaded or updated, and that the car is not shutting down fully and they think that’s why the battery is being constantly drained therefore it will happen again. On the advice note left by the AA they said Battery drained. Possible software update required. [/FONT][FONT=&quot][FONT=&quot]Requires further investigation. F[/FONT]ollowing morning same thing has happened again. This seems like a common problem with Range Rovers and sure experienced mechanics would have come across this prob before. Anyone knows a reputable RR mechanic around Redbridge, Ilford or Woodford, or anywhere close to East London that’s not so expensive. My local dealer wants 300 pounds just for diagnostics. Please help, at my wits end. Thank you

If its just the battery drained it could just be the final stage resistor for the heater blower
There common reasons for the battery draining

How long does it take to go flat ?

+1, could also simply be a duff battery giving up now the cold weather has arrived.:)
 
The battery now drains every 24 hours to 48 hours after jump starting and left to run for about 2 hours. The AA guy seems to think the battery is okay but the computer in the car is not shutting down properly hence the battery drain

The battery will not anywhere near fully recharge by running the engine for 2 hours. 24 hours on a decent size battery charger is needed. Computer staying awake was a P38 problem but it could be I guess.
I would start off by fully charging the battery, the ECU's do not like low volts and can lose control leading to all sorts of imaginary problems.
Otherwise as said, final stage resistor or headlamp wipers not parking properly.:)
 
Thanks. By the way, i once had radio interference on the car before when i just couldnt unlock the car with the remote key but could open it manually only for the alarm and loud beeps. I called the AA at the time and they drove it down the next street for a few minutes and sure enough the remote key started working and the alarm went off. Could this have anything to do with the problems am having now
 
Check to make sure the red led on gear selector console is going out as i had exactly the same problem. Body control module under pass seat,or just pull the fuse out and try it.
 
Is this a diesel l322 ?
If so has someone preset the timed central heating to come on( not sure what its exact name is)
If you have the remote heating firing up twice a day it will flatten your battery over 24hours.
May be worth a quick check to make sure it's not set!

It is actually petrol. Thanks Will check the remote heating once i get it jumped started as its completely dead now, although I dont have the remote control for it

You will be very lucky if yours has a park heater fitted

Not many petrols had them as they were an expensive option

Reading with interest, particulary about the park heater as I have a TD6 with battery drain issues. Did all TD6 have the park heater (i presume to warm the diesel before you get in it?). If so, how do i test to see if:

a) mine is working
b) if its set to switch on/off

Park Heater uses a small diesel burning heater and coolant pump to preheat the coolant and warm the interior at a preset time, or by using a remote fob....

You can set the FBH (Fuel Burning Heater) using the on board computer display to set the start and stop times....or if you have a remote fob for it (it is not activated using the Key fob)

i started my l322 4.4 2003 in the morning with no problems whent to the garage to fuel up came out and opened door
but when i putthe key in ignition nothing happens
it turnes but there are no lights no sounds at all
the intirior lights work as does the remote locking but the power windows dont work but will work by holding the button on the remote down
this has taken the edge off for me owning one
i really need some help and ideas
i dont know if this is the right place to put this as new member
please help me and sorry for my grammer:mad::mad:

Best to start your own thread bud...

But the most common cause of your issue is a faulty Ignition Switch.....they are a common (and irritating) fail item.
