Hello.

Im looking to buy my first range rover. Im looking for 3.0 SDV6 engine and i have 2 questions that are for me most important for deciding which one is for me.

1. TDV6 or SDV6 what is the main difference? i cannot find anything detailed on this topic. just that its basically same engine.

2. Locking rear differential. This is a must Which one has it. Does it mean that if rr has low range (duble speed transfer case) that it automatically has locking rear diff or not?

Thought they had joking diffs and electric nonsense?
Don’t even get locking diffs on P38 with live axle  Doesn’t need it to be honest you towing through deep mud or something?

Welcome:)

No LR ever had a locking rear(or front) off the production line, only center diffs lock. Some manual, some electrickery:), some even variable;).

As for SD v TD they seem the same except the power seems to have upped on the SD which in the 3.0 doesn’t seem like the best thing to do:eek:

Do not some L322 have electric locking rear diffs?

Cheers

I read somewhere that the range rover without Low range has torsen central differential. And if it has low range it has central locking and there are some with rear-e diff that can be engaged.

So you suggest to get tdv instead sdv ?

Yes that's the picture i was looking for. So there are some of the models of l494 who has rear locking edif and since im scouting for car through auction sites i want to know how to identify those. so via duble speed transfer case or how

It might help if you put RR SPORT in the title, then anyone who knows about those rare beasties will be know it is speciefically for sports.

I think most would suggest the V8 over the V6 as a better option, but you are talking about the sport, so I think you take your chance or change you choice of vehicle:)

I would rather have v8 but didnt find any honest review for this engine in sport model

“Honestly my dream one is ful size rr 4.4v8 but i didn't find any good and honest review about v8 in sport model”

We have no reason to complain about our L322 4.4tdv8 owned now for 7 1/2 yrs :) handled any stuff here:)

Supercharged versions got locking rear diff;)
