Hello guys,
I am from Bulgaria, 29 y.o. and I want to buy a RR, but I have a dilemma...
In Bulgaria RR Vogue TDV8 3.6 diesel 2007-2010 costs about 9000 EURO (200000-250000km) with ventilated seats and all extras for the model. And I wanted to buy this, BUT...
I noticed that RR sport TDV6 3.0 and TDV8 3.6 2010-2012 costs the same 9000 EURO (200000km)
Sport is more beautiful car, but i want comfort and going offroad sometimes (I love hunting and skiing).
My question is wich model is:
1. More comfort for driver (seats, space, extras... I am mercedes owner E class W211 and I like comfort driving, not like sports car, I want driving to be like sitting on armchair in the living room not like rally car)?
2. More reliable?
3. Better offroad?
4. Is there any differences in riding comfort on bad roads (in Bulgaria there are many bad roads with holes and all ****) /something in the car's suspension for better driving on bad roads/
5. And what you can tell me about diesel consumption (if you have some of the models)

1: No Range Rover is like a W211. The seats, seating position, leg room are all completely different. Go drive a Range Rover and find out. It also very subjective, I'm 6' tall and struggle with leg room, some of our members are over 6' and find the space acceptable. Some find the seating hard, I find it comfortable, but it is nothing like the E Class I had.
2: Land Rover is not known for reliability. Just take a read around this website. Other websites are available, but all will say the same.
3: Compared to a Merc? Or compared to each other? Compared to each other : one is a Sport, one is a Full Fat. Even without going into the technical specs, the fact that one is smaller all round speaks volumes.
4: UK roads are also full of pot holes and are a game of dodgems when driving. There is no 'something in car's suspension'. They have EAS which gives the ability to raise or lower the suspension but that is it. The only thing to do on rubbish roads is slow down and avoid the worst bits. Don't make the mistake of thinking because it has off-road capabilities that your suspension won't be damaged by bouncing over pot holes , etc.
5: As above, if you are asking fuel consumption, you are looking at the wrong vehicles. No-one buys 3tonne of vehicle for it's fuel consumption
6: Whilst some don't like this answer, I think it is a fair one: do your research, read all the information that is out there. It's your money and you will be driving it , if you buy one. As I said before , it's subjective. For example I find the Sport ugly, you think it's beautiful.

Oh and as also said above, the Sport is a Disco in Drag. Her body is the same, only difference is her dress.

I ask about fuel consumption for information... in the net there is many comments and all different... from 9l/100km to 17l/100km
 
Ok this might take a while:).

We have the TDV8 4.4 so not quite what you are looking at but would suggest you look at the 4.4.

Fuel consumption we have had it in the low 9s but it usually hovers around the high 10s into the 11s, but not an issue I have ever really considered.

Can sit and drive for 12hrs no issue and do the same the next day, I am 6'1" (185cm to the metricalized) The sport would be the same I would expect, Although cant confirm who loses the legroom I would assume the rear passengers.
As for the potholes yes:D, dont let the UK drivers say they know potholes cos they most certainly dont;). We have gone for a 1" smaller dia wheel mainly for winter tyre reasons, so with a slightly higher side wall as we have trashed a few tyres with sidewall bubbles.
The air suspension EAS is great but it means you have a tendency to drive a little bit quicker on potholed roads than you should:eek:.

Reliability: well;).
Ours is well serviced and gets all the stuff it needs, we have cover with Moto Pho but have never been taken home on the "big yellow taxi" (damm shouldn't have said that should I).
Bottom line the way I see it is that forums have been setup because Peeps have problems;) but peeps very rarely tell the good stories , so pinch of salt needed. Look after it it will look after you:D.

Offroad is a big variable.
The standard tyres are for road, try on a wet muddy field and it gets to be fun. Up a dry unpaved road, cart track no issues. It is a very capable vehicle.
But because of the suspension design (L322 & sport) does not have the same ground clearance as the real RR.
On the snowy roads its great and very sure footed.

The actually difference between the RR and the Sport is probably negligible.

What off road do you anticipate?
we take our L322 to places we know it will cope, We take the 90 in the real muddy bits:D. The P38 is almost as good as the 90;).

The biggest problem I see with your selection of possibles is the choice of engine;)

Fuel is the least of your worries. Both will rape your wallet. As for that 6 cylinder diesel unit, look up snapped cranks. But the v8 petrol with the Jag engine. Stay away from the BMW unit.

The age of vehicles you're looking at I'd give the brake lines and bodywork a really good check for any signs of corrosion. Land Rover went back to an homage to the Classic so if it isn't stored in a hermetically sealed container it turns i to brown dust.

That is because they are all different. Day to day I get about half the mpg that some of the others get. Simply because of where I live. If I go back to civilisation, my mpg improves. So 17mpg - 30mpg are true daily figures.

I write war and peace, and don't even get a thanks :rolleyes:
