Hi all I hope someone can help me out

I have a 99V Range Rover P38 2.5DSE Auto with a few problems that seem to have no solution.

The first and main problem was before Christmas the alarm kept going off for no reason replaced the main and remote batteries. Then the indicators come on and stayed on after the car had been locked for an hour or so and by the morning the battery was dead. The car went to the mechanic who turned the indicator flash off when locking and unlocking battery in the BECM but the battery still went dead.

Mechanic then changed the BECM was ok left the light flash off but the battery still drained and then last night the alarm started going off again. Back to the mechanic who stated that the BECM was not set 100% so reset it then turned all the setting on i.e. indicator flash when locking and unlocking. Locked the car tonight and guess with the indicator lights are on. Any ideas????

Second problem is that it seems to use a lot of diesel computer says around 18mpg. What is that all about it’s not a V8 again any ideas??

Thanks in advance any help is much appreciated.

I have done a search regarding the battery drain and the RF but i have not seen any commenting about the indecators staying on once locked?? Is this also a common problem involving the RF??

mine is a 4.6 however i to had this prob at xmas ... it was the RF on mine replaced it no more probs...

It is a RF receiver problem. it confuses the becm to such a point that it confuses itself.

Replacing the RF receiver for the latest updated module cures this problem.

Hopefully you wont have the same problem again.

How much for a replacement RF receiver? I have just disconnected mine for the time being....

Great cheers will try and unplug it for now, when you unplug it are you just taking out the arial or unplugging the hole RF unit?

You have to have a new one to replace it because you wont be able to lock unlock or start the beast. I purchased mine from the dealer. The first one supplied was dud so dismantle where the unit is then go to the dealers and plug the new one in to make sure it works before you leave. Ask for a good discount before you order. I got mine for about £115.
Its only a little black box.

You only need to unplug the aerial wire that goes from the side window to the receiver (single wire). This just means that you will have to be up close for the fob to work. You'll still be able to unlock and start etc.
