hello people...just gone to start rangerover and it wont start in petrol (there is petrol in b4 u ask lol)..it will start on gas tho ....i think i can hear the pump workin wen i strt the ignition..but it does sound a bit whinney.can any1 tell me where the pump is ?????and is it a inline or is it in the tank????

first ones were ,near rear out side tank latter models in the tank, done a couple off these and if you put one under bonnet it has to suck more than push any way wot years your motor ?

yep could be not had lpg but thats the way to go must be one to shut fuel off but do you no were it lives

hi im haveing the same props as you be good if you could let me know when its sorted i will try to do the same.

check for fool pressure at the fuel rail, depressurise it, attemp start then see if pressures back up. if it is then teres now wrong with fuel line, check for spark at plugs. if theres sperk and fuel than its summat else

with it workin on lpg i assume the sparks ok but il give it a chek anyway............does any 1 know if there is a seliniod 2 chek....and where is it???????????

you need to trace it back to the tank(i think the fool pump is in the tank) and see if pump is operating, if you lay the rear seats forward i think there is a access panel there.

also just to double check, did you press the little tyre valve type thing on the fuel rail? another check to be sure is if you take the return pipe off the rail, the one without the 14mm bolt and put a bit of pipe over it and into a jar to save spillage and briefly crank the car it should release fuel. you could even undo the 14mm bolt on the other pipe really and do the same.

if it aint pumping fuel the i would check you have power to pump first. if there is power then its the pump. if not its the relay or fuse.

DO THIS FIRST, AT THE SIDE OF THE DRIVERS FOOT WELL THERE IS AN INERTIA SWITCHOFF FOR THE FUEL. I THINK ITS BEHIND A SMALL PANEL ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. PRESS IT OR WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO THEN TRY PETROL/START ENGINE! ITS A SAFETY DEVICE TO CUT FUEL IF YOU TURN OVER OR HAVE A BUMP!

Current is supplied to the starter solenoid by Relay 16 in the engine compartment fuse box. The relay is supplied by a 30 amp fuse (MF2) in the same fuse box, and is activated by a ground signal from the ignition switch via the BeCM. The fusebox lid gives a key to the relays -- look for one with a starter motor symbol on it. If you cannot hear the relay click when the ignition key is turned to "start", or you suspect it is bad, you can pull it out and jumper pins 30 and 87 to get started.

The fuel pump and injection system is supplied by Relay 12, fed by a 10 amp fuse (F39). These components are also in the engine compartment fuse box and are worth checking

hi ive tried the inertia switch , no differance ive also pressed the valve on the rail on crank up..no differance ive had my bro turn the key while i was under the tank ..i cud hear a flow of fuel but it sounded like it was goin IN the tank il go and try power to the pump now and report bk thanks 4 the help people......if i put a direct power to the pump doe it bypass the relay>???????????????

in my post above it says relay 12, try swapping it wit another similar one. also look see if its burned at the bottom. the pump should run if you put power to it but i would only do it briefly. the sound you heard could be fuel returning to the tank????

ive taken the return pipe off the rail..nothing in there , i found the entry door 2 the pump and while my bro turned the key i can hear the pump workin im gonna take the fuel filter off next 2 c if thats blocked ...i think thats my last resort

whilst filter is off it may be worth giving it a try see if owt comes out, if not maybe blow back down the pipe and forward to see if there is a blockage. the pump motor may still run but if the gubbins inside is shot then it wont pump, same if its blocked in either direction. ive never done a rangey fuel filter(only an 06 diesel one and it was just to change it. it was a canister on the underside of car.) make sure tho when it goes back on its the correct way!!!

thanks for the help evry1 ...i undid the fuel pump and there was a pipe that had come off
just had to put it back on with a jubilee clip and presto we have fuel again
