If you can jump start off another vehicle, logic suggests you can charge using a battery charger, which is typically much lower amps and much 'softer' ie not such a big flash of charge on connecting

E-Joke = Power-Hungry.
New Battery is really cheap. :D
Just had a look at prices and when I looked at the RAC site (first one google brought up) it says this

hi

plus 1 what’s already been said , mines a D3 and these more modern landies are very battery power hungry , average life for a battery is around 5 x years , however if u do short distances it can kill the battery prematurely

There is a scanner called an Autel AP200 and are around £50.00 , there’s different colours , will need the white one, will check the menu for u to see what it does and if it will work for u , then get back to u

However I assume urs is stop start , if it is ur have 2 x batteries , I’ll check in a few workshop manuals I’ve got

will then post a few links for u

oh and ref battery charging , I’ve got a CTEK and they are extremely good , can leave the battery in place , do u happen to have towing sockets please as on my D3 I can charge my batteries up via the 12s towing socket

It just need to do some more digging for u

here’s a link for the CTEK and Autel AP200:, just need to check first for u , plus ur batteries will more than likely be AGM so need to ensure the charger is suitable

https://www.ctek.com/uk/home

Autel has BMS Reset, so looks like it should be ok to reset the BMS after battery is replaced , however I’ve not tested one on an evoke so can’t be 100% , alas though there only £50 and a lot cheaper than a dealer so worth a punt

https://www.auteldiag.co.uk/products/autel-maxiap-ap200

hope this also helps a little

Ctek battery charger , also does battery regen , shop around as u can sometimes find them cheaper , u can also buy clips that go straight onto the battery

https://www.ctek.com/uk/battery-chargers-12v-24v/mxs-7-0-uk

There’s also a plug in volt meter , can give u a rough idea of what ur battery is producing , with engine off and then running , this one also shows u the cabin temperature, there are others on eBay but wished to least show u what’s available

@snerkler

apologise forgot to ask, what engine do u have , gearbox - manual or auto please , thks

plus double checked on the workshop manuals I have , the mesage “ low battery please start engine “ is for ur stop start battery

assume that’s the small battery fitted in the boot unless it’s somewhere else

This should be ur stop start battery , but in ur owners manual it should list both battery types

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313056124949

if u buy new batteries , please charge them before fitting , then after fitting the BMS module will require resetting which fingers crossed hopefully the Autel AP200 will do the rest

plus hope u don’t mind me mentioning it but buy a battery from a shop not online , as if something goes wrong it will be a huge hassle trying to return it

personally got my batteries from halfords using a trade card

hope it’s useful to u

PS , JLR dealers now charge in excess of £200 per hour, think to plug urs in and resetting its around £250 so really hope the Autel will work

Just looked on halfords web site , of course don’t know if it’s the correct one or not as don’t know the engine , reg numbers are easier to input

plus of course they can check both ur batteries for u and if faulty , fit and reset the BMS for u as they quote that on their web site
