Hello,
Please bare with me if this sounds like a basic question, I have owned 9 land rovers over the years but I am new to land rover restoration, This combined with not being great with computers. Anyway, here goes.

Can anyone tell me where I can get any pictures of what the original finish was underneath on a 1989 Range Rover Classic. I am currently resoring my car and I want it as close to original as I can get.

I've spent a week now trying to find any reference or pictures with obsolutely no success. Everyone seems to just paint the underneath of the body in what ever colour the car is, which is fine if that's how they came out of the factory?

Anyway, I hope that all makes sense and any help on this will be greatly appreciated, thankyou,

Anthony

Well I assumed the chassis was black powder coat? I mean the actual bodyshell, floor panels etc. I've stripped alot of the waxoil off now and there is seam sealer and then an underseal which is hard and is a military greem colour.

Thanks : )

There comes a point when "original" isn't good enough.

If you want the underneath of your Classic as it was when it came out of the factory, it'll rust away just as quickly. Protect it as soon as possible.

Unless you're going to be entering your handywork into the "Concours d'elegance" category at any shows, protective treatment to exposed metal parts shouldn't detract from any judging scores.

That's exactly what I'm looking for thankyou. I won't be entering shows or anything but i do like an original finish : )
Also, it won't be driven much so it does'nt need to be waxoiled within an inch of it's life.
I am very sad when it comes to old cars, I can literally sit for hours just looking at the various parts wondering what to do next. : /

Thanks very much.

Anthony.

I was doing PDI's on Classics back in the 80's and you don't want the original finish underneath, they were covered in surface rust after the first winter

That's good to know, By the sounds of it it's amazing there are so many still around.

Thankyou for all your replies, appreciated.

I'm sorry but I need more infomation than that. I've been through my phone and the only signature relates to my email.
I'm assuming you are a moderator of this site? If so you should know that I only went to this "app" as it was recommended by you??

Maybe a bit more understanding and a little less sarcasm may help? I had to ask my son what "yo app" meant.

Anthony.
