this should help it,s the round robin e-mail from Sam.
Dear All
Hope this finds you well? Enclosed are some salient details (in MS Word 2003 format) regarding this year's RGS Overland Workshop, on Sat/Sun 29/30 May at Terrington Hall School, Terrington, York, YO60 6PR (same location as last year
http://www.terringtonvillage.com/).
The Workshop is pretty much double in size compared to last year, with two full days of talks, including Tom Sheppard on 50 years of desert travel, and a masterclass on vehicle recovery given by one of the instructors from Land Rover. Trade representation so far comprises Nene Overland, Footloose, MyWay Safari Equipment, The Overlander, Touring Gear, 4×4 Overlander, and Atlas Overland, (Trek Overland and MUD-UK TBC) and the list continues to grow.
To keep you posted, we now have a website at
http://www.overland-network.com/blog/ - this has been kindly hosted for us by the Africa Overland Network.
Start is 9am on the Saturday, last ball round about 5pm Sunday. Camping is, as ever, free, with limited facilities. Ground tents are no problem. There are local B&Bs at Welburn Lodge 01653 618 885, Low Penhowe 01653 658 336, Grange Farm 01653 618 376, Church Farm 01653 628 403. Those camping will find a lively and animated discussion forum in the evening around numerous campfires, and also fine food and local beers at the Bay Horse Inn
http://www.terringtonvillage.com/Bay%20Horse%20Inn.html
(who are also brewing our own special Overlander real ale for the event, available at a donation of £2 a pint. We are also hoping to get hold of some suitable African beers). There is also an excellent small cafe and general stores (and art gallery) in the village -
http://www.backotheshop.co.uk/ who can sort campers out with milk, bacon, bread, gin and other survival essentials.
Admission/registration fee is £10 per vehicle, payable in advance. This is to enable us to gauge numbers for catering and camping. Please send cheques to Sam Watson, Terrington Hall School, Terrington, York, YO60 6PR. Payable to Sam Watson please.
Just a quick request - please can you send in your details and cheque as soon as poss? We are trying to keep caterers and logistics teams appraised of numbers to be expected on the day.
Feel free to arrive
after 5pm on the Friday before the event - bear in mind however that our hosts are a working boarding school who will just be finishing for their half term at 3.30pm - parents will be collecting and removing their small charges, and may well feel the urge to trade their XC90s and X5s for something beefier when they see assorted snorting, grumbling diesel beasts arriving!
Dogs are of course very welcome, but please keep them under control.
Any queries, please give me a shout. Here's hoping for the same good weather as last year!
See you soon
