Hi guys,

Im currently fitting a rover 4.6 v8 out of a p38 into my defender. Basically I want to fit an external fuel pump rather than an in-tank one. Does anyone have any idea what spec the pump would have to be to do this?

Cheers

Pete

Fuel rail for the V8 injection is 50 psi for the later Thor engines and 34-37psi on the earlier GEMS and 14CUX systems.

120 litres per hour for the Thor engines, can't find a figure for the others.

In both cases it is regulated.

Hope this helps.

I've fitted both a 14CUX injection system and later a thor injection sytem V8 to my LR 90 and in both cases used a 3.9 in tank fuel pump within the LR90 fuel tank. The 14cux is similar to the GEMs in terms of the both have a inlet manifold pressure controlled fuel pressure regulator and a spill back return to the fuel tank, so the intank fuel pump would work for GEMs too. If the flow rate is 120 l/hr for thor then it's the same for Gems. Sorry can't recommend an external fuel pump, but I would suggest looking on ebay for a new pump with a min flow rate of 120L/hr @ 50psi.

most decent bosch poumps will be good..ie ford cosworth, re turbo types..

but they not cheap and are fecking loud..ended up fitting intank type on me 2 door rrc , just cos of the noise!

you keeping the efi i hope!?
