Found a few places doing service exchange injectors so looking less then the price of new atm... will post price here when ordered for reference for anyone interested.

Gotten side tracked atm sorting out the back end as pointless to repair the engine while it had problems of rust, bad joints, nearly solid wheel bearing (confused by that one!) and things. Found this lot while looking over it for mot... Nearly back together now... chose to swap whole subframe in the end! As was not much worth saving on current one. Done rust removal and proofing too while all apart.

The lack of runs has been a problem too mainly for my discovery as the l322 has been parked for far too long now! Tend to leave the batteries on trickle charge when not using them for some time to avoid ending up with flat battery caused problems.

Finally started to solve the engine problem... and wondering if I have found something before the injectors... although dont explain the different leak backs maybe?

It seems like all the vacuum pipes to the exhaust gas re circulation system have perished and collapse. Very hard to show in a picture...

Thinking... maybe change these and see how it runs before doing injectors?

If they are perished you can only do good by changing them, i seam to recall some thing about vacuum pipes and bmw`s not running right.

Most certainly they need changing... just crossing fingers atm its them causing the problems so I don't have to spend a lot on injectors! Although that would be too simple...

Changed the pipes for new. Sadly has not fully removed the problem as I sort of expected (why should something be simple!) But now the engine does run and rev better then before and does tick over smooth some times and not others. So close yet so far!

Guess looking still like will be needing injectors.

Good call though! And no doubt important step along the way. Since I've returned to work and the engine gets more of a work out, mine seems not as smokey or lumpy when starting from cold. The weather may make a difference am hoping too

Gotten the injectors out today... will sort ordering new ones tomorrow. Wanted old ones out first so plenty of time to get them ready for service exchange as looks like I can sent them back after the new ones arrive then getting some money back.

Can you get them tested before they are rebuilt?

No were local sadly but it's not a problem as looking at them they have been there since new! Only one of them looks like it's been working well... the others I am amazed worked at all!

Out of curiosity, I would get a dvm and see if I could get any resistance readings from the injectors. Any différence between them would be interesting to know?

New injectors in... all put back together and once it had sorted its self out...

IT RUNS RIGHT :):):)

Yay!!!!!!!!!!
Actually best it's ever sounded and run in general too.

With the old injectors the coils all measured the same to answer last question.

Mechanical issue then. Glad to hear it purrs again:D

Now on to the next problem... for a while thought I has solved it but sadly its back again!

The annoying water leak in to the boot!

Have sealed the part behind the bumper and the seams under the roof bars. Currently got grease around the tail gate bolts to see if that's were it leaks but still does. Might try properly sealing those too... but looking for other ideas were it could be leaking. Seems to only leak when it rains really hard so I can never get it too via a hose pipe to try and trace it.

I believe the rear quarter covers can also leak others will know more about that than me, one way of tracking the leak is a dusting of talcum powder then you will see the water trail even if its dried up.
