Freelander 02 td4. ok so this has been bugging me... over the last week when starting up its running rough and spitting out plumes of white smoke. on a journey back from the nec dive show on sunday driving along at 70mph and all of a sudden no throttle response and the engine cuts out. i managed to restart it and no other issues until this avo.. filled up and went to pull away and the engine stalled..restarted on the 3 rd attempt.. Ideas?? so far i have upgraded to the bmw pcv filter im running an egr blank and k&n air filter.. Havent yet tested the maf.. cheers guys..

we got one like that at work turned out to be number 3 injector would run like a heap of **** for 10 mins trying to shake the car to bits then would run smooth it needs to go on a machine to be honest and have one of the trained monkeys look at all the fuel pressures etc

white smoke on a diesel - unburnt fuel. Does it only happen when starting from cold?

Could be one of the glow plugs not working. I would check them out. If its happening all the time whether the engine is hot or not then prob injector.

just read the post properly... Thought the issue was just on start up. I would lean more towards injector. poss fuel pump. I would give it a quick plug in to be sure though

As always guys the help is always on hand and useful.. will change out the plugs as its the cheaper option... if not that then will have it plugged in.. thanks again..
