well another year has gone by, service time and annual waxoyling session,
all going well until 1 of the rotary oil filter housing studs would not move, haven't really persisted yet as does anybody know the code for getting 2 new ones before i try to get the one that won't budge out and totally destroy it getting it out!!

The threads are totally useless and people over tighten them or cross thread them. No doubt yours has been glued in due the horrendous oil leak if the top isn't sealed tight.

Best to remove the whole unit and inspect it.

Or just remove the bolts, get a new filter in there and fit some longer bolts and just put nuts on the end.

Had mine pull straight off and lost 6 litres of oil just pull them out and use long M5 bolts larger washers and locknuts bit more of a FAFF but not going to happen again

so mine failed today on the A38 PLUMES of smoke.....lol manged to get home and noticed the bolts were loose....very loose...one tightens up a little and the other does not at all... i have added some oil in and just to see if it holds over ticker which it seems to.

my question is... it is now making a horrible noise when spinning...any ideas?

Mine made a horrible noise when I replaced the filter but only when the engine was stopped and it was slowing down, changed for a different filter and it was slightly better, after a few weeks it quietened down.

But mine did not have the threads pull out / get loose like yours.

@bankz5152 have you fixed / replaced yours yet?

Cheers

yeah it is when slowing down nothing to worry about then i hope..im going to try longer nuts and bolts on it not sure how i will get to the rear one though. might just use normal nuts bolts and put thread lock on it.

so far i have had her a week and its been a pain to work on...but as soon as you get in it...its amazing.
