sory just a quick one, have tried searching to save embarasment but have found nothing, how do you bleed the fuel system on a 2.5td? i got new injector pipes in and the old girl wont start.

cheers.

slacken pipes on top of injectors one by one, use priming pump on drivers side of the engine to pump fuel up to injectors the she should go

Don't think thatll get fuel to the injector pipe. Open the bleed screw on the top of the pump, prime it as above until no air comes out, then tighten this up and then crack injector pipes and crank the engine until no air comes out, then while cranking get someone else to tighten them up until it fires.

yey shes going, do you know how to get the spedo working as well???, whilst your at it, you brilliant people!

Sometimes the prime lever is not in the right place on the gear that is behind it and it won't pump anything, just turn the engine over so it's in the right place. ( just remember for next time )

Check it hasn't got a broken cable, i don't think there is much else it can be.

I found this thred very useful, when I could not get Tilly (2.5td) to start after changing the fuel filter. I had cranked the engine and now know that this pulled all the air from the new filter into the fuel system - Silly Tilly!!! So we followed the priming instructions above to the letter, but could not get fuel to spit from the injector pipes, until my genious of a son spotted that there is a bleed nut on the top of the fuel pump. Opened the nut, cranked the engine, waited for spitting fuel from pipes, tightened everything up and vrrrruuuuummmmmmmm! Hope this helps anyone with the same problem.
