Will Defender roof racks fit a Discovery? I'm not talking about full safari kits, just something to put ladders on. Maybe, if cheap enough, a half roof rack I can sit on at the races.
 
Defender & Discovery are 50mm different.
I've got a Brownchurch but you can move the brackets.

Just have a look on eblag for a universal roof rack gutter mounted, then you can adjust to fit.
 
I don't think the word custom and prices marked POA are going to be cheap.

I got a custom rack made for my Dormobile Defender, cost £210 plus VAT which I think is cheap for the quality.

Sleeps 2 in the roof and with brand new Dormobile units inside, which I've been working with them on and will soon be available flat packed, which is a double bed/bench seat and kitchen unit. Best bit is that the Defender retains the fold down second row seats, so sleeps 4 and legally drives with 5. Tons of storage, just been away for 3 weeks in it.
 
Out of interest - those with gutter mount racks, how do the gutters stand up to rust in this area on the disco's and does it take long for it to start - I have had any number of vans for plumbing with gutter mounted racks and rust in the gutter itself has been inevitable on all vehicles - I started using a butyl rubber as a barrier between the metals but the rack eventually and persistently come loose over time?

I have just purchased a disco1 for work...

I should have looked a bit harder, the price list is on there, short rack is £265 and long £335 for galvanised finish, plus VAT and shipping. Not cheap, but probably good value.

The quality is better than I expected... They make them in house, Steve is the guy to talk to... Two different types, round tubular like mine and then heavier weight square steel, which goes right to the edges of roof... If you ever want to resell, then BrownChurch is a known name in expedition kit for LR's. Hope it helps.

You aren't really supposed to be posting wanted requests unless you have posted 50 times on the forum.

And on a more practical level, as most of the members are in the UK, I would guess you could have one fabricated for less than what the seller would want for it, plus postage to the US.

I will be 66 this year and have only driven and only worked on Land Rovers since I was 18 and started working at the Rover dealership during the summers between 3 years of college as a mechanic.
My best friend lives in Malvern Worcs.
We ship all sorts of stuff from UK to Norfolk, VA which is local to me.
A few weeks ago purchased a set of Dormatic seats in France that will need to be modified to fit our 110 build.
Apologize for not knowing the rules, just looking for a rack anywhere I can locate one as Brownchurch has shut down.
If I don't locate a rack and the Dormobile is ready, will have one of the local shops build a tubular rack.
Should I try and edit the post you reference to remove the wanted bits?

In 1994, built my first engine conversion for a series using the GM 4 cylinder gas engine.
1n 2003, built successfully an OM617 conversion for the series and one for the Defender.
In 2018, built a Defender conversion using the GM inline 6 cylinder engine.
When I retired, opened a small repair shop that only works on Land Rovers.

Are you a Brit living in the US, then? My understanding was that Defenders were pretty rare in the US.

Attended a brief summer school term at Malvern College when I was in 7th grade and played rugby, sang "God Save the Queen", and help one of the groundskeepers tune up a series I.
Funny how a single summer during youthful years can have such an impact on your adult choices.
The US is full of Defenders that began coming in legally in 2008.
Think that there are 4 or 5 on every ro-ro ship that pulls into each port.
Who knows how many are in containers that cross the port.
There are several thousand ROW Defenders in the US and then there are the NAS 90s and 110s that were sold at the dealerships.

Bit the reverse of me, then. I am Canadian, but left as a child, and have lived in the UK since the 1960s.
Interesting about the Defenders, I was under the impression they were hard to import for some kind of obscure legal reason.
I haven't been in North America for a long time, but would have thought they are very small engined for American tastes, and also that road salt must play havoc with their corrosion issues in the colder areas.
