I think you might be surprised what crops up on eBay and gumtree if you don't mind doing a little bit of titivating!

Likewise, guy on EBay from Lancashire made mine, galvanised plus made rear ladders all for around £125 fitted. Will try find his details & post when I'm back home.

That would be great, most ones I've found are £500 plus or weigh a ton!

Sorry Landyshandy!! Been trawling through my old E bay account no luck so far!!
Really bugging me now !! Medication I'm on for pain has buggered my memory, it was 3 yrs ago. But will still keep looking.

Found a chap and he kindly offered me a discount of a custom made one as i need it for a charity drive in doing to Western Sahara. Only problem is it weighs 40kg and I need to find the lightest one possible as weight is not my friend :(

I've no experience here but 40kg does sound very heavy -you sure they didn't mean it will carry 40kg? I shouldn't think you'd want too much weight up there anyway....

Yeah that's what I thought, however I weigh 90KG (not through pies before anyone says) and I see people have tents on the roof. Bearing in mind I'll be going off road in the sand dunes of Morocco and the Western Sahara so not sure how off road effects the impact on the roof apart from risk of doing a tommy tipper

75KG max roof weight. is recommended. by LR but that is when driving due to ****e handling. If you do wanna be stupid and put 100KG+ in the form of 4 jerrycans, on the roof Keep em as far forwards as possible.
