Evil bay has got me at it today!

Just got some roof-bars through the post which included a nice roof-bag, all for £70 incl postage.

Great deal. Item description said it was suitable for a defender 90/110 so I pulled the trigger and along it came.

Opening the box for the roof bars I see the instructions - It's for a frickin' saloon car!
No way on this planet will it fit the defender's side-rail system.

So I've just fired off a couple of messages to the seller and now waiting for the response.

This is the item...

LAND ROVER 90/110/DEFENDER LOCKING ROOF BARS & CARGO BAG/BOX CAR PACK | eBay

""

  • This does not include side rails - this is designed for cars that already have those fitted

According to the description I require a 'side-rail' system, if that's not what's already on a defender I don't know what is...
No way can I find anything resembling 'side-rails' apart from what you stuff under your doors.

Anyone think I've missed anything??

i think we have confusion between side rails as fitted to some discoveries (and roof gutters as fitted to older vehicles.

honestly i read the ad as a pair of bars that fit on top of the rails on my disco, however the pic appears to show legs that fit down into the foof gutters.

given that it stated they fitted defender i suggest you ask the seller through the ebay message system to supply the correct roofrack and arrange collection of the wrong one. if he refuses complain go to ebay and ask for a paypal refund. dont get bullied into paying return carriage.

I have some Thule feet that will allow you to fit those bars to any vehicle with a gutter, they are from my old Disco and will clear the bulge at the rear of the roof so should be fine on yours

depends how long the bars supplied by the seller are... they may not be long enough to reach the gutters...

I hear you on that, trouble is I think that is the 'correct' one as they see it. :(

Can't see how they can say they are correct. The 'side rail' thing may be confusing but fenders don't have them so they either fit to the gutters or are not for a Fender as advertised

they was advertised for a defender

contact them or ebay

get the correct one posted to you

as said before

defender dont have roof bars

Yep, I hear you guys, this is the email I've just gotten back:

""Hello,

Thank you for your email.

I am sorry for the wording in the previous email.

The side rails do not need to be factory fitted specifically. As per the items advert; This does not include side rails - this is designed for cars that already have those fitted

What would you like to do? We are happy to help.

Kind Regards,

Lissie""

I just want a friggin' returns deal to be started and these gimps are delaying!

I meant 'correct' in a sarcastic way btw.
