just managed to bag a ronbox2 from the bay of the E, however, having read it seams like hundreds of threads I still cant figure out what settings to put it on, I have a TD4 with a bosh maf, how do you set the different errrr..settings on the actual box (haven't actually received it yet so hard to envisage) and whats the best for more grunt in lower gears ? btw mine pulls like a train now so hopefully will be a lot better.
Is there only one way to fit the box cables to the TD4. ?

One plug goes on the maf, it'll only go one way. One plug goes into the engine block behind the EGR valve and just under the manifold. Only goes one way. If you manage to put either bit on backwards the engine will splutter and stall.
Settings are 1_10, split in two, with two secondary maf options. And 2 switches.

Switch 1_ boost on or off.
Switch 2_maf compensation on or off

MAF compensation on, settings 1_5 low maf compensate, settings 6_10 high maf compensate.
MAF off, settings 1_5 and 6_10 are identical.
It's bloody obvious when it's in front of you, honest.
I run maf off, boost on, setting 1.
But I think my mafs dieing, so going to switch maf on.
Setting 1= ooohhh, that's nice
Setting 2= cor blimey
Setting 3= wow, I think my autobox just dropped off
Setting 4= hyperdrive
Setting 5= f*ck me, I think that was an STI back there!!!!!!!!!
You can print the instructions off the website.
Have fun

I want one!!

thanks a million fellas, although wont make a lot of sense till I get it, cost me £90 so better be worth it !!!!!
took ages to buy one off the bay.

Diesel HP pumps fail all the time on all makes and models of vehicles. I have a synergy and have had no problems with it.

I can't see how the HPFP would fail earlier with a Synergy tbh. The HPFP is a mechanical device that pumps fuel to a stupidity high pressure. The sensor signal feedback is altered by the Synergy, not the pump pressure it's self. This sensor feedback simply fools the ECU into thinking the HPFP pressure is lower than it actually is. The injection pulse is lengthened slightly because the ECU thinks the pressure is lower than really is. This is why power increases when these modules are fitted. It's actually much more complex than simply bunging in more fuel, but that's the idea.
This is why I can't see why the HPFP would be at increased risk from a tuning module.

I can only go on what the T4 guru's find and report, we have monthly meets for our R40 diesel M47 and any other R40 MGZT cars, where we work on each others cars on a none profit basis and a few have had issues, I my self had the 160 upgrade which was written for the R40, and doe's not fool the ecu therefore I am only posting my opinions from renowned people whom deal with these engines on a daily basis.

well I got my ronbox and fitted it today (setting 3 ),,,,,,what the hell have I done !
the first thing is the 5 pin plug to the maf can be fitted both ways around, on mine anyway, I thought it could only fit one way, so is that the cause of my problems...let me explain. with the maf switch in the off position (because I have the Bosch maf) and the power switch in the off position its fast...reving to 4000 in 1st gear and goes like stink.
with the power switch in the on position booting it brings on the engine light and power down like in limp mode.
with the power switch in the off position and the maf on, it also brings on the engine light.
Same if the setting is set to 5.
So what is wrong then...??

did you not read the instructions you asked for before fitting?
didn't get any instructions apart from Skinny Mike.. (One plug goes on the maf, it'll only go one way) it doesn't, not Skinny Mikes fault, also he says..(If you manage to put either bit on backwards the engine will splutter and stall.) It doesn't..it runs well,
I have contacted Ron who has advised me, but thanks for Mikes advice and your pics xamtex, incredibly useful, will let you know how I get on.

hd3 posted a link to the fitting guide 2 posts down from your origional question?..saved me scanning mine.
