did you take the roof off yella or did you do it in situ? i really like the idea of colour coded roof and... everything else. do you think it would be possible to do a 90 roof with it still on and get a good result. i think a 12" roller would be the boy!

i done it in situ, sprayed the rest of it blue fust then masked out the body up to the gutter and rollered the roof white , looks kinda alright

dunt use a big roller use a little 4" one, get the foam uns, they are designed fer gloss and give a better finish on bodywork ;)

ffs, no one can see the top of the roof anyway. just get a step ladder and a broom handle on yer roller.

cool, might give that a go when the weather gets better! i been using 4" foams on me doors and their great... no im not tony the tiger ;)

just dun mine, got a 20 odd quid spray gun from halfords and borrowed the neighbours compressor. Never sprayed anything in my life before, but with a few beers, some cider and loads of fumes it didn't come out too bad;) Check out the picies in my gallery to see for yerselves:D

The old brush method will work a treat but only with the right prep and materials. 1970's brushing enamel is not the same as your B&Q front door gloss, chemically speaking. Good results were down to your estimate of humidity, air temperature, etc........and god help you if you added too much or not enough 'driers' to the mix........not much fun cleaning paint off a vehicle which 'bloomed' with moisture or just would not dry after 2 days. Brushing enamel is still available from specialist suppliers, if you want the look.

Bustersbus, what paint did you use with the spray gun? And where did you get it? and how much did it take?????

Hi Steve, and welcome.
I used synthetic Deep Brunswick Green. Got it from a local paint shop called Autorads, but try any paint shop. It cost me 30 squid for a 5 ltr tin, which is more than enough. Needed to buy fast syn' thinners too. Still got sum paint left, which is good, as I've still got a brand new bulkhead to do and maybe sum new doors:D

Thanks for the info, I'm a landy virgin, looking to buy a 110 SW soon, and was wondering how important paint job is, and whether I could change it easily. Thanks again, :)
