Would there be any noticeable benefit in fitting a rear axle roll bar to a 110 commercial van.
The brackets are on the chassis and axle. I assume that only 5 door station wagons were fitted with one as standard.

It will help when you roll over ... the roof and sides are just a thin alluminium.

Drive more carefully/slowly especially round corners.
I don't think any Defender is fitted with a roll bar as standard (maybe the new 'i'm not really a' defenders are ?)

Early 110 did not use them. Then when the 300tdi came out they had the brackets and some were fitted.
I do not have either from or rear bars on mine & don’t notice any problems. It does stop the full axle droop when off roading though.

Anti-roll bars .... yes, that makes more sense .... cheers @Hicap phill

They are a torsion bar that restricts the ability for the rear axle to independantly articulate.
I had them on my 300TDi
Thery do make the car feel 'stiffer' on road and offten lead to a X-axle 'go nowhere' situation when off road.

They are currently up in my shed - would you like to buy them ?
I will go and dig them out and get some photo's if you're interested.

Thx for the reply and offer. I have access to an anti roll bar locally.

i was looking for the same answer to this question, my 300tdi 1998 110 van doesn't appear to have them, i've checked the rear at least and thats missing. i didn't know whether they were fitted to some and not others or whether they have been removed for better off road use

i use mine mostly on road and some mild green laning at the moment so considering whether i should fit them.

The springs on a 110 van are pretty stiff for load carrying anyway, doubt anti roll bar would make a noticeable difference unless driven hard.

Made a difference on my 90 if that's any help.
Less roll and made the steering seem more direct.
Still go laning with it, made no difference but in general I don't do lanes where diff lock may be needed.
