I found this filter floating about in the engine bay.

I had a look on Rave, but only found K series info. Can someone tell me what it is and what/where it should connect to please?

I need to get a Haynes manual

It should be the turbo vacuum vent

normally it clips to something behind the air filter box

You sir are correct. According to the Haynes manual, it's the Turbocharger boost control solenoid valve vent filter.

I've not seen a loose clean filter flapping around in an engine bay, seemingly doing f-all before. Now I know.

Thanks guys

Thanks as well asked garage & they did not know what it was for.

Just got our first Land Rover 05 Free Lander 2 L D HSE found same just swinging & not fixed could this filter touch any thing hot exhaust turbo & be fire hazard ? & Why would a solenoid valve VENT need a filter & not just exhaust to atmosphere what would symptoms be if filter was blocked when it cannot be seen, also thee is a upside down U shaped pipe with no connection to it in the same area as the filter at the drivers side back of the engine ?
