Hi

Last time the car was in the garage getting the ATF fluid checked the guy reported she needed the rocker cover gasket changed. Not a big suprise as she leeks a bit of oil and has not helped the state of the driveway.Changed one on my old Vectra but have not looked at the freelander yet.Is it something i can do myself, not a trained mechanic but no stranger to getting my hands dirty.
If is is for me is there anything i have to look out for or is it straight forward.

Freelander 2002 TD4 auto.

Ta for any help and if there is any other questions please post.Want to get this one out before the winter.

Alan.

Hi, engine breather definately worth doing should be done every service in my opinion. Rocker cover gasket should be straight forward but will take a while. Remove Injector pipework take injectors out and hope none are stuck then remove inlet manifold clean inside while its off ,and then you should be able to remove rocker cover

Sorry, I misread the post as : rocket cover filter, and therefore thought this was the same as the engine breather filter. Sorry again.
After all, and as far as I know, this is the 1st time someone asks a replacement of a gasket, so .... automatically I saw filter and not gasket. Fortunately for me I have an appointment with the eyedoctor in a couple of weeks....:D :D :D :D

Hi

Ta for all the help guys, finally had time for the job and 8she says the car goes much better. When i started the job i noticed the main prob for the oil leek !.The sticky up bit that secures the engine cover must of been knocked and although not broken there was some stress points. The oil was peeing out there.

Still have to look at the rear wier issue, have a look at one of my other threads.

Again TA,Alan.

obviously not technically minded (nothing wrong with that) but sounds like a job for:

"Nige Cowie"

He'll be technical without being asked, and he won't expect or ask for thanks:
