Mines defo gone.got a new one to re do it. also at back of rocker cover there is some oil on bulk head at same level. i seem to have read that a seal or something on engine block can cause oil here?just trying to eliminate possibilities. when i do rocker cover il clean up and see if it re appears.
cheers

Get either a cork or a rubber replacement ... rubber is best ... and also check that your oil filler cap is sealing, otherwise you will have the smoke from the crank case settling on the top of the block giving the impression that you have a leak. ;)

Check the feed pipe that goes from the head to the block while you're there and like oldseadog says make sure your crank breather is working - change to a modern pcv one if you haven't got one.

Use some sealer to stick the gasket to the block (but not the rocker case) helps...

Is that the pipe that comes out of the round lid thing on rocker cover? and where is the crank breather. Sorry for the lack of knowledge. im new to landys and mechanics really.
cheers

Yes it is, and it should go either to the inlet manifold or to the manifold side of the air filter.

best set up is the later Series 3 / defender where there is a T-piece restrictor to top and bottom of carb this stops the vacuum getting daft when you're on the overrun down hills...
