I'm looking to fabricate some rock sliders with tree bars. I was going to make them out of 3mm box around 75mm x 50mm. Then have them galved and powder coated.
My question is do you mount them to the body points that the steps are already fitted to? Would they be strong enough or do they need mounting some where else too?
Oh its a 95 Disco

theres a new thread in the disco section on how to make some up courtesy of paul d ;)

Mine is a re-import so doesn't seem to suffer with rot as of yet. And with that underseal that I've slapped all under it I'm hoping it won't:)
So cutting good sills off I dont want to do really. Thanks anyway, I've seen loads of sliders just no pics how they're mounted.

mine are bolted through the sill with strengthening plates behind. Also mounted to front and rear outriggers. Not to chassis.

Mine are going to be slightly different in that I'm replacing the sills with box-section, but thicker than usual (5mm 100x50 box), so they 'become' rocksliders too .. ;) I'll probably be adding treeslider extensions later ...
