Would you mind if I tagged along too, interested in the Retford to Newark route as detailed. Went through Crookford today for the first time, there were 3 or 4 Landys and a pinin doing a photo shoot driving the ford when we got there.

just bear in mind I have a standard lanrover Discovery 2 so nothing too tricky for my first outing please.

Hi! I had planned to go out Monday to do some lanes around Melton Mowbray but could be persuaded to meet up with you to do about 20 lanes from around Worksop heading south towards Mansfield. Would you be interested?

Around Melton would be good at some point, used to live there all my youth, live Grantham now. Anything around these parts would be good later on when fuel funds allow. If that's ok ?

If either of you are heading over to Melton at some point give me a shout as it's my local area. I know a couple of interesting lanes one I wouldn't try solo.

Likewise if you want a tag on around Newark let me know :)

Hi there. I Interested in the green lanes between newark and mansfield. Any chance you could identify them or describe ones nearest to southwell.

Recent 109 purchase and desire to break by green lane virginity on some easy routes first.

Cheers

Don't hold your breath.

Giving out lane information is not really a good idea. You will see why when you get out on the lanes a bit more.

Try this link.

I'm not quite sure as to the tone of that reply but It's a tough one to be sure.

We all love to drive the lanes and I am in no way suggesting everyone will suddenly plough the roads up if I give away the locations like as sometimes happens when LRO magazine do the road books.

But by the power of initiative as I used on the day, a quality map and a little bit of experience (some might say not much) anything is possible.

Or failing that. A PRIVATE MESSAGE!

But anyway, Happy New Year Mark.

Ok I see that you dont want the lanes chewed up which is good as to not show green laning as destructive.
Yes I will get a local os map and do the assesment for the lanes. My request was for local easy lanes that I can do.
After reviewing the map I could pick a lane get part way along and find its too severe - then possibly end up chewing track.....

I'm a newbie at this and you cannot put old heads on new shoulders and we all had to or have to start somewhere.

Thanks for the help

Well for starters I'm not going to be sending you down any lanes on your own.

I do enjoy putting something back into this pastime and often lead groups all over the UK from newbs to the experienced.

But if you can't work out the difference between posting on a public forum thread saying hey guys try these and a simple private message asking me to advise on a couple of lanes for you to try then I doubt we'd have much fun.

There is nothing worse than a trip full of people with sphincters so tight they'd float.

Did you read the link i posted?

You can't just pick up a map and select a lane and drive it, its much more complicated than that. If you read the link it will show you what you need to do.

You would be more than welcome to tag alone on a trip until you get a feel for your vehicle and what lanes look like on a map compared to what they look like on the ground.

Hi
Seems In my newbie status and not knowing the posting / P M etiquette I may have offended some seniors which I apologise for.
Yes Ginge I have read all the links thanks very much for those very informative and as a result have a local OS map in the post to me now for reference.
I'm now going to drive the old girl round for a bit to understand any quirks and iron out any bugs and then in a month or so I'll be back on posting And P M ing
An offer of taging along much appreciated in future months.
In mean time all enjoy the pastime

You haven't ****ed anyone off bud, its all a learning curve. You have to try harder than that to get anyones back up.

There is always a new person who discovers landrovers and then greenlaning. Its got to be one of the most asked questions 'can someone give me some green lanes near me' along with 'whats the biggest tyre i can fit" :D

Just call the rights of way team with the lanes you find and when they give you the all clear then get out and have fun.

All the information is in the link.

Nice pictures, I recognise a few of the places, I need to try harder now to find some other lanes. I came a cross a stranded fiesta st on one of the lanes pictured
