Hi awdebney. . .ya need to give a tad bit more info, engine type, auto or man, gearbox ,if its man ,get up to speed, put in neutral gear, have you still got the noise ,if yes push the clutch down ,have you still got noise, another silly point is your rear brakes could be binding a bit, or a stone in the front disc's, is the noise in the front or the rear, see what i mean a bit more info. . .:)

are you sure it aint summat thats fell off and is dragging on the road, freelanders are renown for this;)

its a manual gearbox / 1.8 engine and i have just recently changed the front brake pads because i thought that might be the problem / someone said it might be my diff bearings spoke to landrover and they said very unlikely the noise is there if the clutch is pressed or de-pressed i have also checked to see if somthing has fallen off and is dragging i have also had to change the front passenger side drive shaft three times in two months? ( i think this was down to cheap parts) have since fitted a genuine part with no trouble unsure if this has caused the problem i am now having?

sorry I dont really know, so it does seem kinda of a pointless post but I would reccomend getting it seen to by landrover and get them to test drive it... there is an awful lot of expensive transmission equipment that can be damaged under prolonged driving..

Try Rally Trans. RALLYTRANS@.SYNTAX-ERROR or ring 02085584028 They will deliver a Recon box to any address within 24hrs, when the old one is removed pop it back into the crate and ring em up to collect, Brill, cost me around £550. Labour shud be around £200. Mark at Rally Trans claimed a lot people had recently put odd tyres on just before the crunch, (as in my case) 2 part worn front, 2 new on the back and lasted a week.
