Just finished re-assembling bonnet today with all those alloy round headed rivets.
I modified the round spikey chisel thing by grinding the end off and then die grinding the dome shape at the end.
It's beer time 30 c in the shade today and I've got a thirst on.

That is a really neat job. It looks superb!
Sounds like NZ is the place to be in December

Yeah great here this time of year will have hot weather now through till around April hottest month is February. I moved here about 8 yrs ago from the UK it has the most amazing scenery with 4wd tracks everywhere.

Great job on the bonnet! Can't wait to see it fitted!!
I painted mine a few years ago, kinda wish I'd left the bodywork original now

Hi Guys !
Looks really nice. Can I ask a naiive question about rivets? I only have a pop riveting hand tool. So I could use this for something, I suppose (I have never tried it yet). In doing the kind of job you did above, would that be a two person job? I have done rivets and snaps in leatherwork, using a tool and hard surface beneath, or a concave punch and concave rounded tiny "anvil." How do you do rivets on a thing like the bonnet? Does on person bang the rivet and the other person press the other side? Sorry for this simple question.

With the pop rivet tool its one person

a lot of the landy original rivets are like this, i did my floor a few years ago, easy to use

Hi Mike, you can buy the rivets from John Craddock, and there are two ways of doing it the quick way or the slow way less chance of damage with the slow process, the quick way is with the air tool I just cut the end of a pointed round chisel and then die ground out the shape in the end, I put these in on my own with this method just hold a lump hammer the other side and hit the trigger. slow method big lump of metal with the shape of the rivet head ground out and some on the other side giving it a hit with a hammer. there is a good You tube clip showing how from North American overland www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf-FJaUExBQ
