I think the Blocks are the same casting, but strengthened etc. Dnt be fooled by the colour.
Fitting a DI head would not give you much power benefit i don't think, as you would need the turbo etc. The IP also won't like the DI injectors - DI injectors have a much higher opening pressure, and so your poor lucas pump will struggle, if work at all.
It takes about 3 full days to do a TDi swap... you sure your that fully booked? how about easter?

I'd change the pumps around too. It's just to avoid insurance hastles thats all! I am absolutely fully booked I'm afraid. Any half term is spent with my girlfriend and she's up here in Easter and we're off up to the lakes not long afterwards. Hmmm!
Well, if you are swapping the pumps then you would have to get custom injector pipes made up, cos tdi and NA pumps mount differently.
you would also have to adjust the pump to run with no turbo, cos they are linked together to adjust how much fuel is injected, timing etc. I don't think it would work properly if you just blanked off the link.
And, i still dnt think you would get much if any power difference!

I don't understand why you'd do this. No point chopping and changing engines and heads you'll never get it to run right. You'd spend less time lifting the whole lump out than taking a head off, just stick a tdi in and be done with it. You could find a rusty MOT failure Disco tdi for a couple of hundred quid without much trouble.
